Social Action Ministry

Mission Statement

To help individuals and families through financial hardship to meet basic human needs as well as providing Christian care that leads to discipleship. This mission is achieved by operating the following programs.

Food Pantry – The food pantry operates weekly distributing supplemental food to a diverse population of approximately 300 clients who are low to moderate income based on the Standard Metro Statistical Area (SMSA).

Clothing Closet – The clothing closet provides individuals and families with clothing who are in need. Clothing provided includes coats, shoes and various sundry items that are gently used and sometimes new.

Emergency Rental and Utility Assistance – Assist individuals and families facing eviction by providing rental assistance to avoid homelessness. Assistance is limited and based on available resources. Additionally, the Church provides emergency finances to families faced with shut off notices and/or limited or no fuel during critical times.

Special Holiday Projects – Distribute Thanksgiving Food Baskets, Christmas Food Baskets and toys. Further, the Church provides an annual Back to School Rally that benefits indigent children with footwear, clothing and school supplies.

Referral and Counseling Services – Counsel, evaluate and assess the needs of individuals and families and refer to other agencies if assistance is not available in-house. The services may include job training and readiness, addiction services, family services and support and general human service referrals.
